New signage for the Mt. Zion African-American Cemetery thanks to the Kingston Veterans Association.
The Mt. Zion African-American Burial Ground has a new sign thanks to the Kingston Veterans Association and nine Seabess Veterens.
The Kingston Land Trust will work with it’s Black History Committee to create a re-dedication ceremony in 2011.
I am overjoyed by finding this site. I have ancestors buried at Mt. Zion Burial Ground. My elder brother, Leonard Van Dyke Jr.is buried there in an unmarked grave. Our grandparents and great grandparents are buried there. We sprinkled another brothers ashes over our grandparents grave in 2004. My family and I would like to attend the rededication ceremony.
